Greg & Leah
We have always dreamed of being parents and are excited to be going through the adoption process. Thank you for taking time to look at our profile and consider us. We understand the decisions you're making are incredibly difficult and we wish you peace, strength, and comfort on whatever path you choose. We look forward to the opportunity to share our family, lives, and love and cannot wait to have a child in our arms.
Our Leisure Time
,p>We really enjoy our free time together. We both spend a lot of time with the dogs, taking them on walks, car rides, and playing with them in the yard. We also typically have a TV show that we watch together while we catch up on our days and cook dinner. We are fans of sitcoms, Survivor, and true crime shows. In addition to our shared interests, we support each other's individual hobbies as well. We are excited to be able to share what we are passionate about with our child, and look forward to learning new things based on their interests.
Greg has multiple hobbies he's passionate about including woodworking, disc golf, artistic wood burning, and baseball. Greg has made furniture for our house, and is handy when it comes to home maintenance. He is a huge baseball fan as well, and enjoys teaching Leah about the game and giving Leah batting lessons in the backyard. Leah enjoys music, crafting, and caring for animals. She does crafts of all kinds, enjoying everything from her Cricut machine to watercolors and paints. She decorates the house for each season, making our house a home, and she can be found listening to musical soundtracks while she works. Leah also goes out of her way to help animals. She helps lost dogs find their homes, feeds the birds in the backyard, and she has even successfully built a nest for homeless baby birds on our front porch.
While we didn’t grow up in diverse areas, we landed in a diverse area of the country and are blessed to have learned so much about different cultures. We are excited to raise our child in an accepting environment. Our neighborhood and surrounding communities are full of families from different backgrounds, leading to a diverse school district. We want our child to know that the world is beautiful because of our differences and that everyone has something to bring to the table. It’s not always about what you look like but what you have to offer! Sports fans and teams don’t care what color athletes are, as long as they are using their talents to help the team. Having heroes from different backgrounds, nationalities, and cultures is important to us, and we are excited to share these heroes with our child. In preparation for becoming adoptive parents, we have looked into the multicultural education programs at local libraries, done research on hair and skincare for children of other races, and discussed with our friends and family what it would mean to be part of a transracial adoption. We are all prepared to love this child and are eager to incorporate their cultural heritage into our lifestyle.
Adoption in Our Lives
We have numerous people in our life who have experiences on every side of the adoption triad. Our sister-in-law is adopted and she is an amazing addition to our family. She and her brother were both adopted into a family with four other kids, making for a big beautiful family. She has shared her experiences with us, and also considered adoption for herself. Our best, mutual friend from college was adopted and she was a huge part of the beginning of our relationship. Over the years, she shared many of her thoughts on adoption with us and taught us about the importance of knowing her birth mother. Leah also had a friend from high school who became a birth mother after becoming pregnant during her first year in college. She has been open about the difficult choices involved and the rewarding experience she has had knowing her child has a life she was unable to provide for him. We have spoken to all of these folks regarding their experiences with adoption, and we have learned so much from them. We know that the process is not always easy on those involved, but that in the end, we will all grow from the experience. We cannot imagine our lives without these beautiful people and their adoptions stories, and we are excited to be part of an adoption story of our own.
Our House and Neighborhood
Home is our favorite place to be. We have plenty of space to spend time together as a family or have some privacy to get work done. We have a big, finished basement where we are excited for our kids to spend time! We also have a large, fenced-in yard that is the perfect spot for a swing set some day.
Located in the suburbs, we are close to anything we would ever need and our property backs up to common ground that allows us to enjoy nature and some wide open space. The neighborhood is full of families and there are always kids outside playing.
We live about a mile from our church and a great park with playgrounds, athletic facilities, an aquatic complex, and walking trails. We love to go to the annual homecoming festival at the park. It is full of rides, food trucks, live music, carnival games, and fireworks. It's tradition for us to buy a funnel cake each year and meet as many dogs as we can!
Our Extended Families
Our family is very important to us and they are excited to be a big part of the lives of our children. Grandma and Poppi (Leah’s parents) live in Kentucky, in Leah’s childhood home with their two dogs. Leah’s parents also have a wonderful lake house in Kentucky that we frequently visit in the summer for "sun-time fun-time." Chita (Greg’s mom) lives on the Gulf Coast with her dog. Visits with her involve days by the beach or pool and eating our way through the south’s delicious seafood, especially the fried shrimp. Leah’s brother and his wife (Ryan and Anne) live in Indiana and have 2 beautiful girls, with another one on the way. Spending time with them results in lots of playtime outside or in the dress-up box channeling our inner Disney princesses. Our families get along great, and we all come together as one giant family at least once each year, usually around a holiday. We don’t have a huge family, but what we lack in size we make up for in fun! Our time together is full of trivia, dog snuggles, home-made cookies, playing games like Five Crowns or Apples to Apples, silly puns, and matching outfits. Our family is so excited to be a part of our adoption journey with us and they’re more than ready to be a part of our child’s life!
From Us to You
We are humbled and thankful that you have taken the time to consider us, and want to thank you for allowing us to share a little about ourselves with you. The road that you are walking is one with many choices and we know that you have difficult decisions ahead of you. Please know that as you walk down this road, we are thinking of you, praying for you, and we only want the best for you.
We can recall the first summer we spent together, learning about each other, and falling for each other. We had only been dating for three months when we started talking about having kids someday. It was early, but we knew even from the beginning, that our relationship was "the real deal." We talked about how many kids we might want, about how we would raise them, and even what sports they might be interested in. We've been together for 10 years now, and while we have enjoyed our lives together thus far, we are excited to take the next step and share our lives with a child.
Adoption is not something we have come to as a second choice. Because we have so many people in our lives affected positively by adoption, we have always considered adoption as a part of our life plans. Being parents is something both of us have dreamed of for a long time and we promise to provide your baby the very best life we have to offer. We will provide a faith-filled and loving home full of support and opportunity. We imagine a life of friendship, laughter, music, family and pets. Your baby will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of cultures and travel across the country and around the world with us. Ideally we would have multiple children and we plan to raise them to be respectful, caring, loving, and passionate people. We don't make this decision lightly. Taking control of the opportunity to mold a small human into a good person is a huge responsibility, but one in which we feel confident we will thrive.
We plan for your baby to know precisely where they came from and how they came to be part of our family. As the birth mother, you would absolutely be part of that story. We hope to have communication with you and learn about you and your choice for adoption so that we can tell our child however much of your story you want them to know. If you would like, we would be happy to share information, pictures, and stories with you through letters and emails. We want you to be able to rest easy, knowing that we are living up to our promise as adoptive parents.
We are grateful for the courage you have shown in your consideration of adoption for your baby. We know that this is a difficult decision, and you have a lot to consider, but please know this baby will be loved by many. Not only are we overflowing with love to give, we have been blessed with a wonderful family and strong friends who are going to shower this child with more love than you can imagine. We are so incredibly excited and we are deeply thankful for the chance to show you our hearts.
