Leisure Time

Enjoying a Backyard Board Game With Analise's Parents

When we aren’t working, our favorite way to unwind is to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. Over the years, we’ve traded many lazy weekends for hikes and long walks. We even caught on to the fun wave of pickleball. On quieter days, you can find us at home indulging our competitive sides with board games, chess, or tackling a complex jigsaw puzzle. Analise sometimes starts the puzzle edges and leaves Kurt to finish the trickier inner pieces. She has to catch up on reading her book for the neighborhood book club, after all! We’re both big movie fans and love a good comedy. We recently watched the "new" Jumanji from 2017 and caught each other laughing out loud multiple times!

Lately, our shared downtime has also involved tackling home improvement. We just wrapped up two major house projects together, proving we make a pretty fantastic team. While one of us (Kurt) handles the heavy lifting, Analise has officially mastered the vital role of chief ladder-holder, keeping things safe and full of laughter. Whether we are climbing a mountain, playing a game, or fixing up our home, we just love being side-by-side.

What it Means to be a Parent

Being a parent means providing a safe and loving home for a child to learn and grow. We feel that it means challenging children to try new things and supporting them when things are hard. Ultimately, the goal of raising children is to prepare them to leave and be successful adults, so there need to be several new opportunities and a lot of love before that time comes.

Exploring Yellowstone National Park Together

We think we'll like the little "aha" moments the most: when they see something cool for the first time or figure out something on their homework. It’s going to be wonderful seeing their unique personality unfold as they also start picking up familiar little quirks. We can't wait to fulfill the role of parents with all of the love we have to share with a little one. We have been reading books and watching videos on the best practices of parenthood and have learned so much already.

Why We Chose Adoption

We chose adoption after years of praying for and seeking God’s plan for our family. Throughout nine wonderful years of marriage, we faced the quiet, difficult heartbreak of unexplained infertility, never receiving a definitive answer as to why we weren't blessed with successful pregnancies. The seasons of waiting and searching were incredibly challenging, but the moment we opened our hearts to adoption, a comforting peace washed over us. We have heard so many success stories from family friends, acquaintances, and videos. They all share how this is what was meant to be all along and how much joy has resulted. We are also empathetic and very grateful to birth parents for their careful decision, and we are open to their involvement in the child's life. We are so eager to welcome a child into our home and love them as if we've been waiting just to meet them... because we have!

Our Extended Families

Kurt's Parent's

Our extended families are so excited for our journey. Kurt’s Mom can’t wait to tell everyone that she’s “going to be a Grandma again!” Analise’s parents have 26 grandchildren already and yet they’re still eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next addition to the family. As you can guess, Analise comes from a large family. She has 6 brothers and 3 sisters and all of them are now married.

Analise and Her Siblings

Kurt’s family is a bit smaller with one brother, his wife, and 2 kids. When Kurt's parents visit from out-of-state, we often play cards, do house projects, seek out some sightseeing options, or plan a fun meal to cook or grill together. His dad makes an extra effort for a specific adventure trip annually, so that usually involves more motorcycle time or hitting the ski slopes with us. Analise's siblings have started bringing their kids to ski in the Colorado mountains, so those trips involve board games, good food, wood-burning fires, and laughter at the end of the day.

A few siblings live within a shorter drive so we connect for our nieces and nephews' events. Kurt even served as the first down marker official at our nephew's football game! We both grew up playing with our cousins so we can't wait to see our little one play with their extended family. Everyone makes an effort to connect throughout the year. Kurt's parents' most recent visit involved house hunting, so we're hoping they'll be down the road from us soon!

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

Our neighborhood in Colorado is a relatively new community. We had the benefit of being some of the first people to move into the neighborhood, so we had a good solid base of neighbors and became the welcoming committee for the rest. We're right across the street from the bus stop, so we see the elementary through high school kids coming and going throughout the school year.

Our neighborhood seems to have a lot of walkers, so we always see dogs and strollers passing on the sidewalk in front of our house. We have a fun playground and park that we pass almost every day on our walks, and the older boys have created some bicycle ramps on the dirt trail in the other direction. It's fun to see kids out in their yards playing or drawing with chalk in the front driveways.

Our house has four bedrooms and several flex spaces. We have a reading room that we hope to make a piano room too. There's an upstairs loft with a big comfy couch that has plenty of room for toys. And we have an unfinished basement that could be filled with activities on the cold days of winter! We have a big backyard and covered patio with two large garden beds and lots of trees and shrubs. There is plenty of room for ball throwing, chalk drawing, and splashing in water tables.

From Us to You

Our names are Kurt and Analise, and we are so grateful to you for taking the time to view our profile. As we approach our ninth wedding anniversary, we are filled with hope and excitement to welcome a child into our family. Our time together has provided a lot of adventures; travel, mountain activities, and life milestones, but none will be as special as the parenthood adventure. We recently moved into our dream home within a wonderful, close-knit community, explicitly choosing a place with extra bedrooms to fill with the laughter of children. We love walking through our neighborhood, passing the local playground daily, and biking to the nearby reservoir. In the summer, our town comes alive with farmers' markets, community festivals, and concerts in the park.

Family is the center of our lives. Analise comes from a large, vibrant family with three sisters and six brothers. She was recently blessed to become a Godmother for the third time! While her siblings are spread out, our reunions are full of joy, and we cannot wait to see our little one having fun with their 26 cousins. Kurt’s family is smaller with just as much fun and excitement for a new addition. He has a brother, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew. Kurt’s parents are thrilled at the prospect of becoming grandparents again, and his incredible 97-year-old grandfather; who is still gardening and climbing ladders; is eager to meet another great-grandchild. Even our sweet Siberian Husky, Kira, is ready; she adores the children of our friends and neighbors and shares her love so easily. When you pet her, she returns the favor by placing a paw on your arm.

We have always held it in our hearts to have children, but after years of facing unexplained infertility, we realized God was redirecting our path toward adoption. Through this journey, we have listened, learned, and prepared, and we are so proud to become lifelong advocates for adoption. To prepare for our future family, we have intentionally built careers that offer absolute stability alongside immense flexibility. Kurt is a full-time member of the military and is incredibly proud to serve our country. Fortunately, he serves in a unique role that provides a permanent home base, ensuring we will not have to relocate like many military families.

Analise currently works part-time from home. Growing up, her mother was a stay-at-home mom, and Analise deeply appreciated her presence. With Kurt's stable career, alongside Analise's flexible remote hours and ability to step away from work entirely if needed, our priority is to provide our child with the same comforts we had growing up. Our child will grow up knowing their adoption story. We want them to love family in all its beautiful forms, and we know that their birth family will always hold an honored, vital place in their heart and ours. We understand that our child will naturally yearn to know about their roots. We hope to incorporate some of your traditions, stories, and special memories into their life. We also want to support your desire to see them grow. We plan to follow your lead on what feels most comfortable, but our plan is to provide consistent connection opportunities.

As the child grows from an infant into a toddler, child, and teenager, we intend to mail letters and photos annually to share their milestones. We would also love to establish a tradition of connecting for a fun afternoon together, supplemented by phone calls or video chats a couple of times a year. We want to build a relationship of respect and transparency that evolves naturally as the child matures.

Please know that you and the baby are in our daily prayers. We pray that you find comfort during your pregnancy and that God grants you peace through this decision. We trust that everything happens as it is intended, and we are holding you in our hearts.

With love and hope,

Kurt & Analise
